DANIEL MARTINEZ

Daniel has called Moore County home since 2015 and joined SPYRC when his second-oldest son began playing in 2018. He has coached U10, U12, and U14 rugby, coached youth football locally for nine years, and now serves in his second year as Vice President. A longtime military leader and father of five, Daniel views rugby as a powerful way to build teamwork, confidence, resilience, and community.

Emily is a Moore County native, an original member of the Southern Pines Women’s Rugby Club, and a longtime SPYRC volunteer who has supported the youth program since it began with just 12 players. A military spouse and mother of two, she believes rugby builds confidence, resilience, community, and a place to belong for every child.

PHIL ROYER

Treasurer

Phil lives in Aberdeen with his wife and four teenage daughters. He works as a contract physical therapist on Fort Bragg after retiring in 2023 with 26 years of service. Phil’s oldest daughter, Olivia, has played for SPYRC since 2022 and is an active rugger for the Harlequins. Since Olivia’s first year of rugby, the Royer family has grown to love the sport. Phil is especially thankful for the opportunity to support the club as its treasurer and hopes to see SPYRC thrive for years to come.

Outside of rugby, Phil is active in his family’s local church, supports his busy family in all of their pursuits, enjoys watching sports, and spends time working on classic cars and woodworking.

EMILY SPIVEY

Communications Manager — Emily is a proud North Carolina native, military wife of over 15 years, and mom of four. She was introduced to rugby in 2013 when her husband, Coach Seth, played for the USMC team at Quantico—and she’s been hooked ever since. Their family officially joined Southern Pines Youth Rugby in 2021, where their two oldest sons now play. Though she’s not a professional photographer, Emily loves capturing moments—whether on the rugby pitch or during everyday life with her kids. In her spare time, you’ll find her behind a camera, lost in a good book, or planning the family’s next adventure. She is a mom who loves rugby, cherishes time with her kids, and enjoys telling stories through photos.
